After wrapping up her fifth year of teaching first grade at Clara Barton Elementary School, Eliza Bryant joined the CEMSE School Support Staff in 2012. As a graduate of the University of Chicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program (Chicago UTEP), Eliza has been a long-time friend and supporter of CEMSE and was excited to continue to learn from, as well as share her experiences with the rest of the staff. During her tenure with Chicago Public Schools, Eliza developed and refined her unique instructional approach of blending Everyday Mathematics with the workshop framework, substantially increasing opportunities for differentiation and improving student performance. As a professional development leader for the Chicago Math and Science Initiative, Eliza gained experience working with teachers new to Everyday Mathematics. In addition, Eliza mentored three pre-service teachers as a clinical instructor with Chicago UTEP. As a math educator at CEMSE Eliza is extending her skills to new groups of teachers.
